Wet Your Whistle with the Modern Johnnie Walker House

Whisky and great design? What more could a gal ask for (besides a simple rocks glass and good company)?

Check out the Johnnie Walker House, a collaboration between Asylum (design agency) and LOVE (creative agency) that gives us just one more reason to travel to Shanghai. That’s right, Shanghai.

The Johnnie Walker House, or “Whisky Heaven,” as I call it, can be found in the 3-story Sinan Mansion in the heart of Shanghai’s Central Business District. An exclusive retreat, the House is intended as a gathering place for premium whisky drinkers to engage with each other and establish loyalty. The design features precious metals from Tom Dixon’s pendants, high-brow humor from Innermost Lighting, and a lot of class. Besides looking cooler than a 007 film set, the Johnnie Walker House incorporates the brand’s history and whisky knowledge into its luxurious design.

Under-counter lighting brings out the bar's sense of movement and scope.

Backlighting creates an amber hue thanks to whisky bottles aligned along a curved wall.

The Innermost Wooster Pendant shines like a capped bright idea in the wash room.

An undulating ceiling highlights the reflective nature of rocks glasses.

Tom Dixon's Void Pendants softly illuminate the lounge area.
