Weekend links: Goodies from around the web
Happy Presidents’ Day Weekend! This last week was one of those where the interwebs were entirely too full of good stuff, with so many pretty, bizarre and awesome things to scope out. Check out a few things we’re diggin’ this week:
Luftwerk’s Luminous Field lights up Millennium Park (via Arch Daily)
Naturally, we love light–not only for the functional and aesthetic purposes in our homes, but because its a beautiful medium for art. Chicago’s Millennium Park (one of my favorite places ever) has turned into a digital canvas of sorts, with “Luminous Field,” an interactive choreographed light show surrounding “The Bean,” the park’s well-known sculpture in the center of its plaza. I’d love to see this in person, but the show only runs through February 20th, so I’ll have to settle for this virtual tour from Arch Daily, which is pretty beautiful in itself.
Everything Goes With Jell-O, Including Modern Design (via Fast Co. Design)
Jell-O is fascinating on a number of levels, and combining it with light turns a would-be snack into a gelatinous work of art. Fast Co. Design shared this project from Fabrice Fouillet and Le Creative Sweatshop, who created scuptures from noteable modern light fixtures and 150 liters of Jell-O. Check out the Binic Table Lamp by Foscarini, Artemide’s Nesso Table Lamp and more, paired with colorful Jell-O molds.
The most Lumens-y Light Ever (via 1stDibs)
We spotted this light on Style Carrot and have been fawning over its familiarity for the past few days. It’s not that we’ve seen this light before–but it looks as much like the Lumens logo as we imagine any lamp could. Even the placement of the colors. Love it.
Modern Architectural Masterpiece in Hollywood Hills (via Home DSGN)
This $10.9 million dollar home tour showed up in my inbox on Wednesday, and it was the exact mid-week reprieve I needed! From the views to the furniture and lighting, this beauty is an inspiration in modern design.
Have a great long weekend!
