The 12 Modern Lamps of Christmas: Day 11

11. Tube Top Colors Table Lamp by Pablo

While I’m definitely not a fan of the same-named piece of clothing, I find the Tube Top Colors Table Lamp to be much more acceptable. And much more flattering to its owner.

Designed for Pablo Pardo by Peter Stathis, the Tube Top combines a fun and airy retro form with a veritable rainbow of luminous colors (six, at the moment). The base is an open, folded panel of transparent acrylic. Its rounded corners mimic that of the rectangular shade, which comes in a clean white mesh fabric that only serves to further accentuate the vibrancy of the base.

It’s lightweight and light-hearted light, casual and versatile. It makes the ideal fixture in a child’s room or anywhere a bright punch of color is needed. On a cold and grey winter’s day, a tube top does not make an appropriate gift (not at any time, really; please don’t do it). But the Tube Top–and its cheerful, energizing color–sure does.
