Shuffle Table by &Tradition Introduced in the U.S. Exclusively at

2010 May 19

We always get to feast our eyes on lots of awesome things at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, and this year (the 22nd annual!) was no exception. One contemporary furniture piece we loved so much, we couldn’t wait to get it up on our site.

Check out the Shuffle Table by AndTradition:

This playful table is like a grown-up version of those toys in hospital waiting rooms where you slid the colored beads all along the tracks—though the Shuffle Table showcases much better colors (meant to be reminiscent of European skies). It is meant to pay tribute to the old Scandinavian craft of wood turning, as well as another important Nordic tradition: Democracy! After all, no one tells you how to put the Shuffle Table together—arrange the chunky pieces in any order you want, with the tabletop up high, or down low—whatever fits your style. So politically freeing!

Designer Mia Hamborg insisted that the Shuffle Table have one function that sets it apart from others: to create joy. Shouldn’t we be so lucky with all our furniture? The charm of this piece does make me pretty cheery, so I’d say mission accomplished.
