“Downton Abbey” Inspires Ralph Lauren
It’s official — vintage is everywhere. Evidenced by designer Ralph Lauren’s fall line, the verve of vintage crosses all fashion genres, from film to runway. Lauren chose Masterpiece Classic’s hit television series “Downton Abbey” for his muse, creating a line that dripped with early 20th century earth-toned tweeds, proper pinstripes and deliciously beaded gowns.
New York Times fashion writer, Eric Wilson, said of Lauren and his collection, “The look wasn’t exactly dowager countess, or anything like the scene in which the family reacts to Lady Sybil’s harem pants, but you got a hunting-in-the-moors feeling.” (Read Wilson’s article here.)
Casa Sugar also did a recent post highlighting the historical aspects of the era’s decor, sharing some great shots of the “Downton Abbey” set.
