A key piece on any desktop is a good desk lamp—something you can position the brightness toward the task at hand. And while task lamps were designed to live on a desk, there’s another place we love seeing these functional fixtures: at the bedside.
Especially for nighttime readers, task lighting makes it easy to focus light on a book or magazine instead of the whole room (and potentially cranky partners). Plus, desk lamps aren’t meant to take up a lot of space, so the streamlined design works great on dinky nightstands in an already-small room. And no matter your aesthetic—modern, vintage, somewhere in the middle—there’s a task lamp to match.
